The Miscanthus on the summit of Mt.Iwawaki
|

|
Mt. Iwawaki lies next to the Kimi pass that
runs between it and the adjacent Mt. Kongo, and is a popular
destination throughout the four seasons. Its summit, which
commands stunning views, is a majestic meadow spanning 8 hectares,
with a view to the south of the stretching Katsuragi mountain
range. The Rokko Alps lie to the north, towards the Hanshin
region, and on a clear day you can see as far as Awaji Island
in Osaka Bay. The summit area, known as "Kitora",
overflows with Miscanthus (Japanese Pampas grass) which bears
beautiful flowers in autumn, while the wind that whispers
through the grass soothes all who journey here.
